Armed robbers hit four houses in Eldoraigne, Centurion, between Saturday and Wednesday evening.
In the latest robbery, six men lifted the security gate off its rails at a house in Roan Nook Street around 8pm on Wednesday night. They gained access to the house through an open garage.
Hannes du Buisson, Centurion Concerned Citizens spokesperson, said the intruders tied up a family of three, including a six-year-old boy, on the floor of the lounge and ransacked the house.
They took a television set, an iPad, and cellphones. The men fled in the family’s silver Audi A4 and their own vehicle, a Nissan Juke, that was parked around the corner.
On Wednesday afternoon, three men held a woman at gunpoint when she arrived at her house in Koos Smal Road at 12:53.
Du Buisson said two armed men stopped behind her in the driveway, jumped out of a light blue Hyundai Atos and threatened her with a firearm.
The gardener was also held at gunpoint.
“The men stole a handbag, cellphone and jewellery before fleeing the scene,” Du Buisson said.
About 25 minutes earlier, three armed men gained access to a house in Kort Street by jumping over a wall and forcing open the front door.
Du Buisson said the domestic worker was held at gunpoint for about 40 minutes while the men ransacked the house.
Two television sets, a laptop, iPhone and other items were stolen.
“The men fled and the worker immediately locked the door and called for help,” he said.
“According to the woman, one of the men were burly with a rough voice and the other two were smaller. She said one of the men had grey hair.”
Du Buisson said it was believed the same men were involved in the robberies, but this could not be confirmed.
On Saturday, three men told the owner of a house in Ewald Street they were searching for a guest house in the vicinity. They suddenly pulled a gun, prompting his wife to press the panic button.
The men fled with a television set, cash and jewellery before help could arrive. They also took a set of house and car keys, Du Buisson said.
Wierdabrug police are investigating.
