The Lyttelton police are searching for four armed men who hijacked a cellphone delivery vehicle on Thursday, police said.
Police spokesperson Captain Colette Weilbach said a 40-year-old driver and his crew were busy loading two boxes of cellphones into a delivery van at a depot in Doringkloof, Centurion when two unknown armed men approached them at 10:53.
“The armed men ordered them and the security guard, who was on duty, into the delivery van and drove off with them,” Weilbach said.
“The men then stopped a few blocks away, close to a nursery school. There they unloaded the cellphones into a white Mercedes Benz, locked their victims into the back of the delivery van and fled.”
Weilbach said two other men in a blue Hyundai and a white bakkie were believed to have also been involved in the robbery.
“No shots were fired and nobody was injured,” she said.
