Chaos at Centurion Gautrain
Two alleged criminals were arrested near the Centurion Gautrain Station on Thursday.
Chaos erupted near the Centurion Gautrain Station on Thursday night after two alleged criminals were apparently arrested by the police.
According to reports the two men had been arrested by police and CPF members after a dispute developed between the two of them.
“It turned out to be a dispute between two criminals and the one only hit the other with a toy gun,” Hannes du Buisson, a Centurion resident, said.
Chris Evans, Chairman of the Lyttelton CPF Sub Forum 7, said reports were received of a shooting incident at the corner of Hendrik Verwoed and West. Roads were closed to assist authorities. He said the scene had been cleared but could not provide more information.
“An official statement will be released on Friday,” he said.
He thanked UrbanGenisis, CPSF members, SAPS, ADT Security, MonitorNet, Copwatch and SAPS Airwing for their assistance.
Police were called out to the scene by concerned residents but details of the incident are still sketchy at this stage.
Other reports indicate that one of the suspects had been shot and wounded at the scene.
A police helicopter was seen circling the area. Police could however not provide comment on the shooting.
