A 36-year-old man was arrested in Brazzaville near Saulsville for possession of dagga, police said on Wednesday. According to Captain Thomas Mufumadi, the man was arrested by police on his way home. “Officers received a tip-off that a man carrying a large red and white bag was in possession of dagga.”
Mufumadi said the man was on his way back from the train station when he was stopped by two officers who ordered him to open the bag. “When the man opened the bag, police found bags of dagga wrapped in foil. The man was immediately arrested and detained at the Atteridgeville police station. The street value of the dagga is estimated at about R15 000.”
Mufumadi said the man would appear in the Atteridgeville magistrate’s court soon.
He urged members of the public to report any incidents or suspicions they had related to drugs, as tip-offs were very helpful. “The issue of drugs in the community is alarming, especially dagga, as it is often a gateway to other hard drugs.”
