Centurion mall targeted by robbers
Chaos erupted at Centurion Mall after robbery.
Six armed men are on the run after they robbed the Hi-fi Corporation at Centurion Mall on Friday night.
According Captain Colette Weilbach, police spokesperson, the men entered the store at approximately 19:50.
“The men forced a female store manager back into the store as she was about to close the business for the day. Three of the alleged robbers were armed with pistols and ordered the manager and six other employees inside the store to lie down and tied them up with cable ties,” she said.
She said the robbers took an undisclosed number of laptops, cameras and cellphones before they fled in a white Ford Ranger double cab bakkie.
“Two of the employers from Hi-fi Corporation were taken to hospital where they received treatment for shock. No shots were fired and no one was injured during the incident,” Weilbach said.
The Lyttelton police are investigating an armed robbery at a business premises.
Weilbach said anyone that can assist the police with information can contact the investigating officer at the Lyttelton police station at 012-644-8612.
