An 48-year-old man has apparently sexually assaulted his 11-year-old stepdaughter in Temba, Hammanskraal, police spokesperson Constable Herman Moremi said.
“It is alleged that on 7 December last year the man took the child from her bedroom to his room where he touched her body and private parts. He tried to penetrate her but failed. He then took her back to her bedroom and told her not to tell anyone.”
Moremi said this happened while the child’s mother, a domestic worker, was at work. The child told her mother when she returned home last Friday.
“She told her mother that her step-father threatened her if she talked. The mother reported the matter to police and the suspect was arrested on Wednesday night as he was not around during the week,” he said.
The man is expected to appear in the Moretele Magistrate’s Court soon.
“The child alleges that this is not the first time he has tried to rape her.”
