Four arrested for possession of hijacked vehicle
Four men were arrested on Tuesday in Hercules for possession of a hijacked car.
Four men, aged between 20 and 25, were arrested on Tuesday afternoon for possession of a hijacked vehicle, police said.
According to Captain Bonginkosi Msimango, the grey Audi A3 was hijacked in December in Pretoria West.
“The suspects sold the car to a car dealer in Hercules who then took it to a panel beater to be repainted,” Msimango said.
The panel beater became suspicious of the vehicle and called the police.
“When we arrived there, we discovered it was the same vehicle we had been looking for,” he explained further.
The suspects were with the panel beater at the time of the arrest and were taken to the police station for questioning.
“A case has been opened against them and investigations are taking place. They have been charged with possession of a hijacked vehicle,” Msimango says.
The suspects could not be identified as they have not yet appeared in court.
