Councillor visits grief-stricken family
Councillor helps with groceries for child's funeral.
Mamelodi councillor Moses Phasha on Thursday visited the family of Nthabiseng Ramoroka (8) who was killed by a stray bullet last week.
He also organised groceries for the upcoming burial service.
Phasha said he was saddened by what had happened, especially in the wake of the 16 day-campaign to oppose violence against women and children.
“This innocent children are the leaders of tomorrow and we can’t act as if nothing has happened. As the leaders of this government, we condemn the killing of an innocent child. No one has the right to kill people.”
Nthabiseng was hit in the head when a neighbour fired shots while fighting with his wife over sex.
The shooting took place in Phomolong, Extension 6 in Mamelodi in the early hours of Thursday, last week.
Nthabiseng Ramoroka (8) was a pupil at Koos Matli Primary School and was going to grade 3. She will be buried in Limpopo this Saturday.
