Man with stab wound found on filling station bathroom floor

A man who was stabbed in the head in Elardus Park on Saturday, was later found by petrol attendants at a filling station.

A man was found bleeding from his head in the bathroom of a filling station in Elardus Park late Saturday afternoon. The man, believed to be homeless, claimed he had been stabbed in the head in a nearby field. He then ran to the filling station for safety.

An eyewitness told Rekord the man, who appeared to be in his late twenties, was found by the petrol attendants on the bathroom floor of the Total filling station in Solomon Mahlangu Drive around 17:30.

According to the source, the man was found unconscious with his head covered in his hands.

Lyttelton Sector 4 community policing forum members arrived at the scene and applied first aid. The man was then taken to hospital for further treatment.

Bertus Cloete, owner of the filling station, confirmed the incident. He said the man was not an employee at the filling station and was apparently staying in an open field in the area.Man with stab wound found on filling station bathroom floor

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Dave Miller said on Sunday no case had been opened at the police station.
It would appear the man was still in hospital on Sunday.
