Man assaulted and robbed in coffee shop
A man was assaulted and robbed of valuables in a coffee shop at Wonder Park Shopping Centre on Sunday night.
An armed robber is still at large after he robbed a man on Sunday night of all his valuables, police said on Monday.
According to Captain Rheineth Motlana the armed robber approached the 23-year-old man late Sunday night at a coffee shop in Wonder Park Shopping Centre.
She said the robber held his victim at gunpoint and forced him to hand over his valuables before he assaulted him.
“The victim was robbed of R1 700 in cash and two cellphones,” Motlana said.
A case of armed robbery is being investigated and no arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing. Wonder Park Shopping Centre had been one of many malls throughout Pretoria that had been hit by a spate of mall robberies.
In November last year four armed men robbed the Pick n Pay at the mall of an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene. Centurion Mall, Mall@Reds, North Park Mall and Kolonnade Shopping Centre were also targeted during this time.
Six armed men robbed the Hi-Fi Corporation at Centurion Mall on 9 January.
“The men forced a female store manager back into the store as she was about to close the business for the day. Three of the alleged robbers were armed with pistols and ordered the manager and six other employees inside the store to lie down and tied them up with cable ties,” Captain Colette Weilbach, police spokesperson said.
She said the robbers took an undisclosed number of laptops, cameras and cellphones before they fled in a white Ford Ranger double cab bakkie.
