A man was arrested in Erasmia after finding him in a possession of a stolen car that went missing on Sunday.

A 35 year-old year man was arrested after he was found in possession of a company car that was reported stolen in the early hours of Sunday, Constable Tumisang Moloto reported.

The man allegedly stole the car keys from the company he is working for in Sunderlandridge, Rudolph Street in Erasmia. The suspect took a company car at around 01:00 to visit his friend in Tembisa, Moloto said. The matter was reported to police after they realised the car had gone missing. The police acted immediately and the tracking device led them to M10 Wierda Road, Wierdabrug.

On their arrival, the cops found a Hyundai H100 overturned where the suspect sustained minor injuries, he was treated on the scene by medical personnel before being arrested. At the time he was arrested, the police also noticed he did not have a valid driver’s licence.

“A case of car theft has been opened by the Erasmia police and the man will appear in court soon, as we are still investigating the case,” Moloto added.
