Man dies after beating near popular estate

A man died after he was beaten up near a popular estate in Midstream.

A man recently died after he was beaten up near a well-known estate in Midrand.

The man was apparently still alive when he was discovered by a gardener working at the estate. He was lying on a dirt road in an open field about 300m from the south gate of the Midstream Ridge Estate’s.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Jean Olckers said the man was clearly beaten up and died as a result of his severe injuries.

The victim apparently told the gardener that he had been attacked and robbed by a group of unknown men.

The man died shortly after help arrived.

Olckers said police still had not identified the man, believed to be between 25 and 30 years old.

He said no family members had come forward to identify him.

“Police are investigating a case of murder and anyone with more information about the man or the whereabouts of his family, should contact the investigating officer Sergeant Mashoma at 011-316-8022,” Olckers said.

According to a reliable source, Midstream’s security team had beefed up security after the death.

The source told Rekord two more bodies were dumped on separate occasions next to a dam on a private property neighbouring the estates.

Midstream Ridge estate manager Ian Faller was at the time not available for comment.
