Police are on the hunt for three armed men after a man was shot in Silverton on Tuesday afternoon.
Police are searching for three armed men after a man was shot and wounded in Silverton on Tuesday afternoon, spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Katlego Mogale said.
This after the victim (56) confronted the three men when he noticed a suspicious vehicle in his neighbour’s yard at around 14:00.
“He confronted the suspects who were walking out of his neighbour’s house, carrying a plasma TV. The suspects shot him in the lower body,” she said.
Mogale said the robbers then dropped the TV and jumped into a silver grey Audi A3, fleeing the scene.
According to a source, the man was shot after he took photos of the front of the car with the registration number.
Netcare 911 spokesperson, Santi Steinmann, said the man had suffered a serious gunshot wound.
“We treated him on scene and transported him to hospital for further medical care,” said Steinmann.
Mogale said the Audi A3 was later found abandoned in Nellmapius, Mamelodi.
“The police are on the trail of the three suspects. A case of attempted murder and house breaking is being investigated.”
