Silverton man shot and wounded
A Silverton man was shot and wounded in an alleged house robbery on Tuesday.
A man was shot and wounded in Van Wyk Street in Silverton on Tuesday afternoon.
Santi Steinmann, Netcare 911 spokesperson, said paramedics arrived at the scene and found the man, believed to be in his forties, had suffered a serious gunshot wound.
According to a source, the man noticed a suspicious vehicle parked in his neighbour’s driveway and upon investigating found criminals in the act of robbing the house.
The robbers apparently saw him taking a photo of them and fired a gunshot.
The injured man was treated on scene and taken to hospital. No one else was injured.
Silverton police spokesperson Captain Jan Sepato could at the time not provide more information.
