Stage 1 load shedding planned for Monday

Consumers are urged to switch off any unnecessary electrical appliances as Eskom warns of a 50% chance for load shedding if demand of electricity is not decreased.

Eskom  has announced that Stage 1 load shedding will be implemented across South Africa at 16:00 until 22:00 on Monday due to shortage of capacity.

Earlier on Monday, spokesman Khulu Phasiwe said Eskom could meet current electricity demand, but there was a 50% chance of power cuts.

Consumers are still urged to minimise electricity use by switching off all unnecessary appliances.

Eskom  has announced on Monday that no load shedding has been scheduled for Monday thus far due to a few working generators over the weekend, stabilising the system.

The grid is however still under great pressure, and Eskom  warns consumers of a 50% chance for load shedding if demand of electricity is not decreased.

Consumers are urged to switch off any unnecessary electrical appliances.
