Kaizer Chiefs winger George Lebese is set to miss Wednesday’s soccer clash against Bloemfontein Celtic due to a court appearance on assault charges.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Velekhaya Mgobhozi said Lebese appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court court on Wednesday morning and the matter was adjourned to 9 March 2015 for further investigation.

“Lebese was charged for assault and damage to property, he was released on R1 000 bail on Tuesday night,” Mgobhozi said.

Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Kay Makhubela said Lebese was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend in Silverton.

Kaizer Chiefs spokesperson Vina Maphosa confirmed the glamour boys would be without the speedy winger when they face Celtic at the Free State Stadium.
