A man was arrested in possession of cocaine that had a value of about R200 000 in Sunnyside, police said on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson Major Mack Mngomezulu said the 23-year-old man was arrested for possession of 2kg cocaine on Tuesday. “Police received a tip-off from the locals and when they arrived at the scene, they found the suspect carrying a bag containing 2kg of cocaine, the suspect was arrested and taken to the nearest police station,” he said.
“The suspect denied he was selling cocaine and he also failed to tell the police where he got the cocaine from, the matter is under serious investigation as we believe there may be more people involved,” Mngomezulu said.
Warrant Officer Hero Gumbo said the street value of the cocaine the man had was about R200 000. The man is set to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
