Man assaulted by 14 men
A man was assaulted by 14 men when they held him hostage at a construction site in Pretoria North on Friday.
A 63-year-old man was held hostage and assaulted by 14 men at a construction site in Karen Park, Pretoria North, on Friday.
Sebastian Venter, a foreman at a construction site behind the Wonderpark Shopping Centre, said he was attacked by 14 construction workers as they demanded money from him.
“I was the only one on the site and around 15:30, construction workers started to complain they haven’t been paid by their employer,” Venter said.
He said the men began to assault him, demanding their money, and blocked the road when he tried to drive out of the site.
“I then left my car and went to my office. They followed me and all 14 men started to hit me in my office,” Venter said.
Venter said the men ransacked his office, but nothing serious was damaged.
He said he managed to wrestle his way out of the office.
“As I got out, they continued to swear and scream at me. I phoned the police and they managed to chase them away,” he said.
Venter said he did not suffer serious injuries, except for a sore neck.
