The Tshwane metro council has introduced an initiative to improve services by attending to residents’ queries.
“Operation Kuka Maoto was introduced to blitz through Tshwane’s seven regions to attend to key urban management challenges,” said mayoral spokesperson Blessing Manale.
The initiative will tackle issues such as:
• Cleaning of cemeteries and cutting of grass
• Repair of potholes and maintenance of gravel roads
• Maintenance of parks and sports facilities
• Maintenance of community centres
• Libraries and clinics
• Road markings and signs
• Repair of water and sewer leakages and blockages
• Street light repairs and maintenance
• Illegal dumping and waste management
• Removal of illegal posters
• De-weeding of sidewalks and pavements.
“Kuka Maoto will take to the streets once a week to attend to identified service delivery hotspots in various regions of Tshwane,” said Manale.
In March and April, the focus will be on Mamelodi, Eersterust, Ga-Rankuwa, Mabopane, Winterveldt, Soshanguve, Atteridgeville, Olievenhoutbosch and Hammanskraal.
