A 57-year-old man was shot dead, one man was shot and wounded and a 28-year-old woman was raped on Friday night during a house robbery in Erasmia, provincial police spokesperson Major Mack Mngomezulu said.
He said around 23:30, three armed men attacked shacks at an informal settlement in the area.
“According to the woman, they kicked down the doors and started shooting. They shot, wounded and assaulted a 20-year-old man and also raped her.”
He said the robbers fled by foot with R480 cash and two cellphones.
A case of murder, attempted murder, rape and house robbery is being investigated, he said.
