VIDEO: Blundering burglars caught on camera

Video footage of thieves trying to break into a house goes viral.

A video of blundering would-be burglars has gone viral.

The closed circuit television footage, recorded at a house in Edenvale in Johannesburg on 21 February at 14:19, shows four thieves with their faces clearly visible trying to force open a small metal gate. Armed with crowbars and gloves, they eventually had to beat a humble retreat.

The two videos posted to YouTube run for 4:01 minutes, showing two men approaching the small, black, metal gate. The two try their best to open the gate, kicking and pushing, and before long are joined by another man. One of the three goes away, but before long the other two also run away, presumably spooked by someone.

They soon return, only to continue failing in their task, continuing to try and open the gate. They are soon joined by a fourth cohort, who also fails. At one point one of the original trio almost knocks out the fourth would-be burglar when the crowbar slips and hits him against the head.

The foolish foursome at long last gives up their attempt, and casually saunter away, leaving only a slightly bent gate in their wake.
