Suspected home burglars arrested
Two suspects have been arrested on Monday in connection with a home burglary in Winterveldt.
Two suspects (30 and 35) have been arrested in connection with a home burglary in Winterveldt. Police spokesperson Constable Shabangu said a house was broken into on Friday night and valuables stolen included a projector and screen, laptop, DJ mixer and a computer printer.
“The complainant left his house on Friday and returned the next day to find his house had been burgled. He then reported the burglary to us. The man took police to the suspect’s house and they investigated,” said Shabangu. “Upon arrival, the police knocked on the door. When there was no reply they tried to open the door and found it was unlocked. When police entered the house they found the stolen projector screen.”
One suspect was arrested at the house. Further investigations led police to another suspect who assisted the first suspect with the transportation of the stolen goods.
“Police seized the stolen goods, but the suspects told police they had already sold the laptop,” said Shabangu.
Police are following up leads to recover the laptop. “Anyone found to have bought the stolen laptop will also be arrested and charged,” said Shabangu.
