A woman was beaten and assaulted when a man entered a business recently and robbed R29 000 in cash in Pretoria Central, police spokesperson Sergeant Ann Poortman said.
She said around 12:00, a man arrived at the gates of Don Camillo Projects on Francis Baard Street in a white bakkie.
“A woman who works there opened the gate for him. The man approached the main door carrying a box. He told her he came to deliver a parcel to a manager, whom he mentioned by name,” Poortman said.
She said the woman opened for the man, but the man dropped the box and hit her in the face.
“He assaulted her and pulled her to the safe where he instructed her to open. He took all the cash in the safe, which was R29 000.”
The man also took the keys to the building and the woman’s handbag and locked her inside, Poortman said.
“When he got to the gate, the woman opened it for him, out of fear he will come back to assault her. He then fled the scene,” she said.
She said the woman suffered scratches and a swollen hand.
“A case of business robbery is being investigated.”
