The man seen hijacked and kidnapped on video was released shortly afterwards, Greater Mayfair Civic Association chairperson Rick Nair said this week.
Nair said the man was unharmed.
Crime Watch uploaded the footage last week, detailing a swift and terrifying hijacking and kidnapping.
Nair said this happened on Friday 6 March, on 6th street in Mayfair, Johannesburg.
The footage shows a BMW pulling into a driveway when another car turns into road. The BMW passenger gets out when the car stops behind him. Three armed men jump out of the second car.
They pull the driver out of the BMW and force him into the back seat of the car.
A forth accomplice runs out of their vehicle and gets into the driver’s side of the BMW.
The hijackers fled with the victim while the passenger managed to escape.
Nair said the kidnappers seemed to have specific information about their victim.
“We believe he could have been transporting money. The driver was found unharmed a couple of hours later.”
