Security firm makes large bust
Monitor Net officials bust thieves part of an ATM robbery and came across jamming devices.
Theft at an ATM in Centurion on Thursday led to the culprits losing some of the tools of their trade.
Monitor Net spokesperson Hannes Laage said a woman withdrew money around 17:17 from an ATM at the Sasol service station on the corner of Maraboe and Hofsanger roads in Rooihuiskraal. While at the ATM, two men took her money and some of her possessions.
“The suspects fled the scene, but the attendants at the Sasol garage pressed their panic button and Monitor Net responded. The description of the suspects was relayed to our responding officer. Around 17:45, the suspect’s vehicle was spotted at the corner of Rooihuiskraal and Bothrel Roads,” said Laage.
The monitor net official gave chase, and was soon joined by three other vehicles who helped pursue the fleeing men. They were eventually forced off the road on the corner of Rietspruit and Samrand roads.
The four officials arrested the men and searched their car.
“In addition to the stolen items, the officials also found remote signal jammers in their possession,” added Laage.
The men were handed to the Olievenhoutbosch police.
“We would like to thank all the support given to Monitor Net by the local community and SAPS,” said Laage.
