Three armed men are on the run following a failed robbery at Advanced Cash and Carry in Hermanstad on Saturday morning.
According to an employee who wishes to remain anonymous, she heard two loud noises and assumed something had fallen over in the warehouse. Then she heard multiple gunshots being fired and knew there was trouble.
“I told everyone to hide. Three men entered and ransacked the cash office. Fidelity was on their way to pick up money and I believe the robbers might have known they were on their way,” the employee said.
The employee said one of Cash and Carry’s employees was wounded and taken to Pretoria West hospital by emergency services for medical care.
Conrad Naudé, chairman for the Hercules community policing forum, confirmed the incident. He said the robbers did not manage to get away with the money.
Police are still searching the area for the armed robbers.
