A hijacker who allegedly flung an infant from a moving vehicle in Eldorado Park in Johannesburg last Saturday briefly appeared in the Protea Regional Court in Sandton on Monday on charges of hijacking.
According to Major Mack Mngomezulu, police spokesperson, the case was postponed.
“A man’s Golf 5 was hijacked last Saturday in Naturena, Johannesburg, with the child still in the vehicle. Police spotted the hijacked vehicle and gave chase,” he said.
The hijackers allegedly flung the child from the vehicle when police gave chase and the infant was later found by police, unharmed.
“The police managed to corner the vehicle in Eldorado Park. One man was arrested but the other one fled the scene.”
Mngomezulu said anyone with more information about the second hijacker should phone the police immediately.
