Bus burns out in Silverton
A Putco bus burned out in a busy street in Silverton on Tuesday morning.
A burning Putco bus caused chaos in Pretoria Street, in front of Silver Mall shopping centre in Silverton, on Tuesday morning.
Tshwane emergency services were on the scene to extinguish the flames and cordon off the street for safety reasons.
An eyewitness, Aaron Ngobeni, said he was on his way to buy something to eat when he saw the burning bus.
“I found it very strange, as the bus was burning form the top, as though someone had set it on fire,” Ngobeni said.
Another witness, Marie Roux, said she was on her way to the shopping centre when she saw the burning bus.
“Firefighters and emergency vehicles had already arrived when I saw the bus, but the flames were vey big,” Roux said.
By 10:00 the fire had been extinguished and all that remained of the bus was an iron shell and some soaked debris.
Tshwane Emergency Services could not yet comment.
