Centurion assualt case dismissed
Some progress has been made in alleged assault claims at the Centurion licensing services.
The case against a woman who was allegedly assaulted at the Centurion licensing centre has been dismissed by the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court.
According to Tertius Kruger, who on behalf of AfriForum, represented the woman who was allegedly assaulted by staff and management at the centre, said since the case against the woman has been dismissed, the defence would be considering their options. The case against the staff member of the licensing services is still being investigated, and has not been dismissed by the court.
“We are looking at the merits of the case, and will consider legal action. The police are also still investigating the assault claims,” said Kruger.
According to Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba of the Tshwane Metro police department (TMPD), the TMPD is still investigating the claims. “We are still busy with the investigation and want to finalise it as soon as possible.”
He added that the TMPD could not disclose anything at this stage as they were still investigating.
The investigation followed claims that staff members verbally and physically assaulted clients at the licensing centre during two different occasions.
