Man dies in hospital after being shot at his shop
A shop owner has died after being shot on Sunday in a business robbery.
A man has died in hospital after he was shot in a business robbery on Sunday in Soshanguve.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Lolo Mangena said on Tuesday a 35-year-old Ethiopian shop owner was shot in his store during an alleged robbery. He later died in hospital.
“A man was shot in his upper abdomen on Sunday evening while sleeping in his shop. He was taken to the Ga-Rankuwa hospital that evening after neighbours heard gunshots. He died on Monday, suffering from severe gunshot wounds,” Mangena said.
Mangena said the deceased was staying in his shop in Block V, Soshanguve when he was shot. “It is unclear what the motive behind the killing was as the suspects are still on the run,” Mangena said.
A case of murder and robbery was opened and investigations have started, Mangena said.
