Foreign shop owner killed in mob justice

Two shop owners were attacked and one died during a mob justice attack in Soshanguve.

Mob justice has left a foreign shop owner in Soshanguve dead, after the shop owner shot and killed a local, police said recently.

Spokesperson Captain Riana van Aarde said the man was killed in an act of mob justice after he apparently shot a man in an argument.

“A foreign-owned shop was set alight by the residents of Extension 4. It is believed that a man came into the shop late at night and started an argument with one of the two shop owners. One of the owners shot the man during the argument, and he died. This led to the community attacking the two men. The shop owner was killed and his friend is in hospital,” she said.

Van Aarde said the situation was under control and no suspects had been arrested.
