Three men arrested for breaking into a business in Silverton on Tuesday appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Friday, police said.
Spokesperson Jan Sepato said the three men aged between 20 and 25 were arrested on Tuesday when they were caught in possession of stolen items at a scrapyard in Silverton.
“There was a Silverton business break-in on Sunday where certain items were stolen. The suspects managed to get away and on Monday evening they returned and stole more goods, including a basin from the same business,” he said.
“On Wednesday two employees of the business went to a scrap yard and saw two men carrying the basin stolen on Monday night. The business employees immediately called police who arrived at the scene and arrested one suspect while the other suspect managed to escape. With the help of the arrested suspect, police managed to find the man who had escaped, together with a third man involved in the two crimes,” Sepato said.
According to Sepato all the suspects confessed to the two burglaries and were charged with the possession of stolen items.
