Inform ADT about your guard dogs

Assist security providers by informing them of guard dogs on your property.

In line with ADT’s Zero Harm focus, the security provider is appealing to homeowners who own guard dogs to inform them about these dogs.

While many homeowners in the country have guard dogs as a security measure, they can pose difficulties for security companies tasked with protecting the property.

“We have recently seen an increase in the number of incidents in which our reaction officers have been bitten by aggressive dogs. We rely on our clients to tell us whether they have dogs, especially vicious dogs, on their premises. While our officers are trained to deal with vicious dogs, their safety remains a priority, as does the safety of your family pets,” said Mike Kidson, managing director of ADT Northern Region.

According to ADT standard operating procedures, officers will not enter premises where there are vicious dogs.

Kidson urges people to remember to update their security provider about dogs on their premises.

“If you have a big guard dog, have just gotten a new dog or perhaps your puppy has grown up and now poses a threat to our officers, please let our monitoring centre know so that we can update your profile accordingly to ensure our officers are informed of your dogs in the event of an emergency.”
