In a dramatic video posted by eblockwatch on Tuesday, a Durban man was ambushed and robbed at a busy mall, in broad daylight.
The video shows a white vehicle pulling into the parking area of the Pavillion centre in Durban before three men, armed with rifles, jump out.
The men then surround and rob the victim, who was apparently leaving a bank. Next the armed men get back into their vehicle and drive off.
Andre Snyman from eblockwatch has called Durban a war zone, with the amount of hijackings, as well as bank related and mall robberies.
According to him, gangs work with spotters in the bank.
“They are apparently not bank employees, but mostly people pretending to be clients. What you see in the video is most probably the tip of the iceberg, because they have an onion ring approach – layers and layers of support,” Snyman said.
“In the video you can see three guys but there could well be another three to protect them.”
