Three arrested for pouring boiling water on man

Three men were arrested on Saturday after pouring boiling water on a man in Mamelodi, police said.

Three men aged between 22 and 66 were arrested on Saturday morning after allegedly beating and pouring boiling hot water on a 39-year-old man in Mamelodi East, police spokesperson Warrant Officer Mike Mbewe said.

He said the assaulted man suffered injuries to his private parts. “The injured man was admitted to hospital for treatment,” he said.

Mbewe said the injured man had damaged the windows of one of the three men’s home. He said the man was on the run from police after a case of malicious damage to property had been opened against him.

“During the search the fleeing man went back to that house and swore at the suspects. That is when they attacked him with boiling water.”

Mbewe said the injured man was arrested immediately after being discharged from hospital. The three men were detained on charges of attempted murder.

“Police pleads with communities to report criminality and not to take the law into their own hands,” Mbewe said.
