Motorbike-killer and parents arrested after murder

The man who shot his ex-fiancé on Wednesday has been arrested along with his parents.

Dawid Connoway (39), the man who had allegedly killed his ex-fiancé at her workplace in Moreletapark, had been arrested late Wednesday night.

According to warrant officer Dave Miller, spokesperson of Garsfontein, he had been hiding on his parents’ farm near Bronkhorstspruit.

“His parents had been arrested for defeating the ends of justice,” Miller said.

Connoway had shot Nicolene in her head at Cura Health Insurance, were she had been working as a personal assistant for the past eight months.

Connoway and Nicolene Schreuder (35) had been staying together in Bronkhorstspruit, but she had ended the relationship around two weeks ago after he allegedly accused her of “having relationships with other men”.

She was in the process of getting a protection order against him as he was abusive and she was scared of him.

On 7 April he posted a photo on his Facebook page of him and a blonde woman sitting closely together in a bar.

It had been reported that Connoway, who had his own electrical business, had greeted her with a kiss before he shot her in the head.

He then fled on his green scrambler motorbike to a bar where he allegedly drank a couple of drink before he went into hiding on his parents’ farm.

Miller said: “He was under the influence of alcohol when we arrested him. We also found four licenced and one unlicensed weapon on the farm.”

Connoway will be charged with murder and the possession of an illegal firearm.

He will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate Court on Monday.
