Erasmuskloof hit by cable theft
The Tshwane metro expects power to be restored in Erasmuskloof and surrounding areas on Monday afternoon following cable theft.
A power failure has hit people in Erasmuskloof after cable theft at the Nossob substation.
Tshwane metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said Erasmuskloof and surrounding areas had been affected since Sunday after four feeder cables at the substation were stolen.
“The metro’s energy and electricity division swiftly dispatched technicians on site for repair work and initially estimated that power would be restored on Sunday night,” he said.
“However, there was a large area that had to be excavated resulting in delays and under difficult circumstances they continued to work throughout the night.”
He said more contractors were dispatched to the site and it was now expected that power should be restored by late on Monday afternoon.
“It is unfortunate that Pretoria’s residents must endure disrupted services as a result of criminal actions,” he said.
He urged affected customers are urged to report power failures by SMS.
SMS the word power followed by your account number to 082-612-0333 or 44676. Or report a power failure to 012-358-9999/080111-1556, selecting the electricity option.
