Pensioner recovering after attack
The Pretoria pensioner who was shot in her home is recovering well.
Tina Matthews (68), a resident of the Pretoria-Oos Retirement Village in Die Wilgers, is recovering well after she was attacked and shot in the hip in her home.
According to Matthews’ son, Marius Fourie, she is out of hospital and doing well. “My mother has been discharged from Unitas and is living with my brother. We are so thankful that she is recovering well.”
He said that although she was recovering, she was skeptical about returning to her home. “My mother is still traumatised after what happened. We are in talks with the developers of the estate to ensure that when she returns, the security of the property is improved.”
Willie Smith, relationship manager of the Central Developments Property Group, the developer of the Pretoria-Oos Retirement Village, said details of the talks regarding improvements on security at the property would be released soon.
Fourie said: “We are so glad that my mother is better and that her wound is healing well. It could have ended so much worse. She will go back to Unitas on Wednesday morning to see a specialist.”
