Watch out for obstructions on the road
Motorists should avoid getting out of their cars to remove obstructions from the road, as they could be hijacked.
The Brooklyn Sector 4 community policing forum (CPF) is warning motorists not to stop and get out of their cars if they come across obstructions in the road.
The warning comes after rocks were seen lined up on the corners of Okapi Street and Lion Street in Monument Park on Friday night.
Safety operations manager Trish Scheepers said patrollers and the Hi-Risk Unit responded to the scene, but nothing was found.
She warned drivers to avoid getting out of their cars, as they could be hijacked.
“Try not to stop and climb out of your car to remove stones or any other obstructions, as you could be hijacked,” she told Rekord.
According to Des Havenga, who responded to Scheepers’ Facebook post, he saw a man picking up stones from a house in Waterkloof.
“These look exactly the same. We wondered why he was taking them and putting them in a bag,” Havenga wrote.
Scheepers could not confirm if it was the same man responsible for the road obstruction.
“We are asking people to please contact the police, a security company or their CPF should they come across such an obstruction on the road.”
