Two arrested for allegedly robbing children of their cellphones
Two alleged cellphone robbers recently arrested in Danville after attempting to rob four children.
Two men have been arrested for cellphone robberies in Danville on Tuesday evening. The men have apparently been robbing children in the area of their cellphones. They have also allegedly been breaking into residents’ cars.
“Last week the men were spotted in Danville. The public informed us about the men who rob children and break into residents’ cars,” said Ubuntu Armed Response group reaction manager Jan Burger.
Burger said on Tuesday the men allegedly tried to rob four children in Danville, but the children managed to run away. The men allegedly also tried to break into a car. “When the children ran home they alerted their parents who told us about the men. Our reaction officer, Marias Opperman arrived at the scene and apprehended the men and officer Johan Janse van Rensburg assisted him. Police came to the scene and arrested the two men,” explained Burger.
Burger mentioned they were under the impression the two men could be linked with the robbing of pupils at Pretoria West High School. “We suspect the men are the ones who robbed pupils. But we are not certain.”
In the beginning of the year pupils of Pretoria West High School were robbed on their way to school in the mornings and afternoons. Police have since been patrolling the area and no pupils have since been robbed. Police were not immediately available for comment.
