159 arrested over the weekend
159 people were arrested in the north of Pretoria over the weekend for various crimes during the operation Fiela.

A total of 159 suspects have been arrested in Ga-Rankuwa cluster over the past weekend during operation Fiela, police said on Monday.
Spokesperson warrant officer Matthews Nkoadi said the operation went smoothly, but he did not yet have any information on the number of convictions. “At this point, I can’t tell how many of these arrests will lead to convictions, we are still busy with those statistics and will have the numbers in the next month or so,” he said.
Nkoadi said operations were conducted in all sectors of the Ga-Rankuwa Cluster and 159 suspects were arrested for various crimes, including robbery, assault with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm, shoplifting, illegal immigration, road traffic offences, theft, possession of suspected stolen property and kidnapping.
“All suspects will appear in the Ga-Rankuwa, Soshanguve and Pretoria North Magistrate’s Courts soon, while all those who are in the country illegally will be deported,” he said.
