Man nabbed after shootout
A number of men open fire on police on Tuesday afternoon.
Police arrested a man in Atteridgeville on Tuesday after he and some accomplices opened fire on them.
Provincial spokesperson Lt-Col Katlego Mogale said detectives were driving on the R511 when a man caught their attention.
“When they saw him, he ducked behind a bush. They stopped and approached the man when about six other men appeared.”
Mogale said the men just started shooting at the detectives, who returned fire.
“The men ran into different directions but police caught one of them.”
He would be charged with attempted murder. His accomplices remained at large.
No one was wounded in the shooting.
