Roads blocked by protesters
Motorists are advised to steer clear of Van der Hoff Road en route to Hartbeespoort after the alleged lack of service delivery sparked a protest.
A protest over service delivery saw roads in Hartbeespoort being blocked on Tuesday.
Harro Rust, chairperson of the Hartbeespoort sector 1 rural security, said the protest began around 06:15 near the Sunway formal settling.
“The protesters burnt tires and put logs across the road to prevent motorists from using the road.”
He said informal settlers opposite Ten Rooms in Van der Hoff Road en route to Hartbeespoort also set tires alight and put stones in the road to disrupt traffic.
Rust said the demonstration was sparked by complaints over service delivery by the Madibeng municipality.
It was continuing by 09:00 and police and rural security were keeping watch.
Motorists travelling from Pretoria towards Hartbeespoort were advised to use alternative routes.
