13 shots fired in hijack attempt
Would-be hijackers fled empty-handed after firing shots at a truck carrying cigarettes on the N1 north highway on Wednesday morning.
Thirteen shots were fired at a truck on the N1 north highway on Wednesday morning in a failed bid to hijack the vehicle.
Villieria police spokesperson Captain Koba Brits said this happened around 03:00 at the Stormvoël Road off ramp.
She said the truck was carrying cigarettes.
“Shots were exchanged between a guard on the truck and four armed men. The would-be hijackers fled empty-handed in a car.”
She said no injuries were reported.
Attempted hijacking and attempted murder dockets were opened.
