Several hurt in crash north of Pretoria

Passengers were thrown from a minibus taxi after a collision in Sefako Makgatho Drive on Tuesday.

Several people were injured in a crash in Sefako Makgatho Drive, north of Pretoria, on Tuesday afternoon.

Spokesperson for Advanced Paramedic Assist (APA) Andy Gill said a minibus taxi and a bakkie collided near Breedt Street.

Passengers in the minibus taxi were thrown from the vehicle as it overturned on impact.

At least one passenger suffered serious head injury while others were treated for light to medium injuries.

The driver of the bakkie escaped with minor injuries.

“We received the call of the accident just after 12:30. The road was closed to motorists as the scene was being cleared. It is unclear what had caused the accident,” Gill said.

He said other emergency services also attended to the scene.
