A tavern owner was robbed in his Soshanguve home in the early hours of Monday.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Lolo Mangena said three men tied him up inside his house in Moshate before they robbed him.

“The complainant found three armed men near his bed when he woke up around 02:00. They began searching his room and found his tavern keys,” Mangena said.

“Two of the three men went to the tavern which is inside the yard while the other one remained in the house. He tied the owner’s hands and feet with wires while the other two made their way into the tavern.”

They took a couple of beers, two cellphones, a monitor bell and R600 in cash.

Mangena said when a neighbour saw the tavern was open he called out but nobody answered.

“The neighbour then went into the house and found the complainant and untied him. This happened a few minutes after the suspects had left the house. A house robbery docket was opened.”
