A couple driving in a company car has been hijacked in Soshanguve, police said on Monday.
Spokesperson Warrant Officer Lolo Mangena said the two were hijacked and tied up in the bushes in Block V, Soshanguve on Friday night.
“A man was driving home with his girlfriend when a white Toyota Hilux with Metropolitan logos overtook and stopped in front of them. Two men got out, pulled firearms and told the couple to get into the bakkie,” he said.
“One of the suspects drove off with their company car while the other man drove the couple to a spot where he tied them to a tree and left them. The pair untied themselves and got help.”
Mangena said no arrests had been made and investigations were continuing.
In another crime, a man was shot and hijacked in Block P, Soshanguve on Saturday morning.
Mangena said the 36-year-old man was driving along in his Toyota Venture when armed men shot at him, brought him to a standstill and took his vehicle.
“The victim is recovering in a hospital after he was shot in the upper body. As soon as he’s back on his feet, he will give us more information about the hijacking which will help us to arrest the robbers.”
