A series of gunshots left twelve people, including the elderly, wounded in a cash-in-transit heist in Soshanguve on Wednesday morning.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Lolo Mangena said this happened at the Sosha Plaza around 06:10 outside the Net 1 Financial Services.
He said the criminals initially camouflaged themselves among the elderly women queuing outside the business.
“When the Fidelity truck arrived and the guards tried to enter the business, the criminals started firing multiple shots at them. Several weapons such as automatic rifles and pistols were used.”
He said eight elderly women were shot and wounded in the legs and hips.
Two elderly men were also hit, with one suffering a gunshot wound to the back.
“Two Fidelity guards were shot in the legs. Paramedics were called to the scene,” he said.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann said the injured suffered moderate to serious injuries and were treated and taken to hospital by various services.
Mangena said the armed men fled with a Fidelity cash canister containing more than R300 000.
“They left their BMW and fled in a white TATA bakkie. The men are still at large,” he said.
