Angry taxi operators barricade road with burning tyres

Taxi operators barricaded Solomon Mahlangu Drive on route to Mamelodi on Friday morning with burning tyres. According to reports actions seem violent.

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes driving on the northern part of Solomon Mahlangu Drive close to Mamelodi on Friday morning.

Two Autopax busses had already been stoned by angry taxi drivers and shots were fired. It is uncertain who fired the shots – the taxi drivers or the police.

Burning tyres had also been placed in the road to stop motorists from using it.

Police are on the scene.

According to reports the situation seem violent.
