The two men who had been arrested for possession of stolen property on Monday were still under police custody, police said on Friday.

Police spokesperson Tumisang Moloto said the two men briefly appeared in court on Tuesday but were denied bail. “The two suspects are still in police custody and will appear at the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court on 8 July for bail application. We are still looking for other suspects who were involved,” he said.

On Monday, a house was robbed in Gerhardsville by three armed men. Moloto told Rekord this week the robbers found the homeowner and his wife in their house and tied them up with cables before stealing their jewellery, a plasma television set, a DVD player and a firearm.

They robbers fled with the homeowner’s Isuzu bakkie but the vehicle was tracked down and found abandoned in Atteridgeville. A few minutes later, two men were arrested when found in possession of stolen items from the house robbery.
